There has been a concerning trend of uprooting and discarding age-old Banyan and Peepal trees, often over 50 or 100 years old, due to road expansion projects. To counter this practice, the Vidhaigal NGO has initiated a "Reviving Trees" project. Under this initiative, the uprooted trees are carefully rescued and transplanted to suitable locations.
Over ten such ancient Banyan and Peepal trees have been rescued and given a new lease of life through this project.
As a pilot project, a direct agricultural training program was conducted for students in Nathanallur village. The training included hands-on experience in planting seedlings, plowing, mechanized sowing, preparing insect repellents, and weeding. Students from Avalur Government School, Walajabad Industrial Training School, Triveni Academy, Adhi College National Service Scheme, and Agathiya School, totaling 186 students, participated in this training.
Rooftop Gardening Workshop: A one-day workshop on rooftop gardening was conducted for children in Mudichur Varadarajapuram. The workshop covered topics such as setting up a rooftop garden, its maintenance, and preparing natural pesticides. Over 50 children and students participated in this program.
